About Me
In my “day job”, I teach at the Sullivan University College of Pharmacy. Currently, my classes include Anatomy & Physiology, Pharmaceutical Calculations, and Pharmacotherapeutics.
When not teaching, my favorite activities include scuba diving (yes, I’ve seen sharks!), underwater photography, reading, travel, and cooking.
Education & Background
While my undergraduate degree was in the sciences, I was fortunate to have excellent teachers who provided the highest quality of music education. I am grateful to them each and every day for the many gifts they gave me. They are my inspiration.
Mrs. Sarah Smalle Brewer…Cincinnati Conservatory. Mrs. Hugh B. Scott…a graduate of Oberlin College and the University of Chicago. I studied piano from the age of five until I was twenty, and have been teaching for over thirty years.
What I Teach
The curriculum in my studio is based on the classical model. Primarily, I strive to make my students proficient readers of music as early as possible. Mastery of rhythm concepts is equally important. Lessons always include time for the study of theory, proper technique, and musicianship. And of course, all students want to play some “fun pieces” as well, and I encourage them to explore all types of music.
Ages/Skill Levels Taught
I enjoy and welcome all students…beginners to accomplished players. I generally recommend that parents consider starting their young children at approximately six years of age. And I love teaching adults!
