About Me

My first teacher, my sister Anne May (MM, UTK) gave me two hour-long lessons each week from the time I was six, combining both traditional reading and Suzuki methods. In high school I transferred two Fay Adams and attended UT on a full scholarship that was both academic and performance based. I receive my MM from U of L on full scholarship and continue to accompany at U of L. I enjoy working with students and accompany the Singing Cardsmen, U of L’s all men’s choir. I also worked with Thompson Street Opera Company for 3 seasons as rehearsal and performance pianist and enjoy giving recitals with friends and my duet partner, Mary Ann Wilder. Like I tell my students, there is always more music to be learned.

What I Teach

I use traditional reading methods such as Faber but enjoy customizing and tailoring lessons to the student’s strengths and weaknesses. We work on technique and integrate history into interpretation. I enjoy teaching music from all compositional periods, especially 20th and 21st century.
